Car Hire

When booking a car, please remember the following tips:

  • Select a car that will be big enough for all of your party and their luggage. Remember that you may use up valuable space, squeezing in that extra suitcase and infant / child seats often take up more room than one passenger seat.
  • Damage and Theft is normally subject to an excess, should you have to make a claim. You will normally be offered the opportunity to waive some, or all, of these excesses when taking delivery of your hired car.
  • Personal Accident Insurance will also normally be offered to you when you take delivery of your car – check to see if your travel insurance policy already covers you and your party.
  • Local deposits and petrol are normally collected by the car hire company on delivery of the car. These charges are normally covered by a credit card, which should be in the name of the driver.
  • Minimum & Maximum Age Limitations are often imposed by car hire companies. Usually the minimum age for driving without additional surcharge is 23 years and the maximum is 65 years, but these can vary, especially for larger and more powerful cars.
  • Additional Drivers, over and above the named driver, are usually subject to an additional local charge.
  • Driving Licences are required and cars will not normally be handed over without current and original documentation. Most car hire companies require the driver to have held a full licence for a minimum of 1 year. Full British driving licences (pink) are acceptable, as are British photocard licences.
  • Special Requests should always be made well in advance – it is rare for an infant seat to be available if not booked in advance.

Hoseasons acts as the agent for the car hire companies and clients must sign the contract offered by the car hire company, thereby accepting their terms and conditions of rental.
